GARY LAWSON
Gary brings decades of relevant experience and broad networks in the pursuit of winning outcomes for clients and partners. For nearly the last five years, he has advised US military & government stakeholders on a range of complex engagements to accelerate technology solutions for our warfighters by providing in-depth commercial and technology research & defense/dual-use tech ecosystem outreach. A native of Coronado, CA and from a military family, Gary’s dedication to robust national security began at an early age, and continued through his years at Annapolis and active duty service as a US Marine Corps infantry officer.
Following active service with the US Marines and completion of graduate school, he joined the Investment Banking Division at Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he focused on the aerospace & defense, industrials, and natural resources (metals & mining) sectors. Later, he worked as a senior member of the Merrill Lynch M&A team where he continued to focus on those sectors and broadened his reach to include energy, enterprise software and tech-enabled services companies. He has completed over $35 billion (enterprise value) in aggregate transaction volume, to include M&A, IPO, venture investments, and other private placements as an investment banker & while serving as the CFO of an early-stage energy tech company where he successfully closed a $25 million Series A. Gary is a graduate of the US Naval Academy (BS, Honors History) and holds a JD/MBA from the University of Virginia School of Law and Darden Graduate School of Business. He maintains an active Series 79 & 63 through his affiliation with USQ Securities LLC.
